2011 FALL CHALLENGE
I preached a message on expectation in Armenia this summer. Dr. Eldon
Wilson followed my message with one of his own that encouraged the people
to act on their expectancy. In it, he set forth a challenge that I want to pass
on to us for the fall of 2011. This challenge will run from September through
November of this year.
I believe that we built the addition on our building as a nursery. God has
given LWCC many promises concerning numerical growth. I believe that
with the potential leaders we have that we are ready for that growth. If we
truly expect God to honor our faith, what are we going to do about it?
Dr. Wilson’s challenge was 3 fold.
1. Expect to give a testimony of what God is doing in your life
sometime in the next 3 months. This means you will have to be
looking for the good things God is doing for you. It may be a small
thing or a large thing, but God is always moving. When we
acknowledge those things publicly it helps us see the hand of God in
our lives. This brings great encouragement to you and to others. It
will also help you get used to speaking out publicly about Jesus
2. Make a list of 3 people that you know who need the Lord. Begin to
pray for them and form a plan for how and when you will witness to
them.
3. Make another list of people you will invite to church. They may be
the same people that you will witness to, but they may also be
Christians that you know need a Bible believing church. Statistics
say it takes 7 invitations for most people to respond. Once you go
through the list once, start again until they come. Believe that God
will meet them when they do come to LWCC.
During these months I will be asking for testimonies at various meetings. If
no one comes forth I will call on someone so you need to be ready. We
really want you to share something more than “God really loves me.”
We will keep track of the progress through the New Life Groups. We will
give some updates during the anniversary celebration and then in December
we will see how we did.
I believe this is from the Lord, so take it seriously. If we expect God to do
his part we need to do ours. Let’s believe that the anointing of the Lord will
be in this and we will see results like never before.
